Benjamin advises corporate and banking clients on new and existing business. He provides strategic advice to clients in the Eurasian region with a specialisation on mining, energy, and capital markets transactions.

He has a particular specialism on political and regulatory risk, and supports both corporate strategy and government relations teams. He has also supported investors on complex issues, including disputes and arbitration.

Benjamin has more than 15 years commercial experience in the Eurasian region. He is recognised by Chambers and Partners as a leading risk practitioner.

He has a master’s degree in international development from Bristol University and has studied at Kuban State University in Russia. He is fluent in Russian.

Perspectives on the regulatory climate for investors in the mining sector

Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are engaged in reforms to attract new investment into the development of their mineral resources, with a new emphasis on becoming a major new centre for the development of critical minerals.

In my comments, I would like to explore the reforms that have been made and the challenges that still exist in improving the investment climate.
