Azam Alisherovich Kadirkhojaev was born on November 20, 1982, in the Tashkent region. He graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and the Tashkent State Technical University. He holds a PhD in geological and mineral sciences.

Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions in the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Geology and Mineral Resources, the State Service for Monitoring Hazardous Geological Processes, the Cabinet of Ministers' Office, and the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology. In recent years, he served as Deputy Minister of Mining Industry and Geology.

He will now direct his extensive experience in higher education and geology towards the development of the University of Geological Sciences.

New horizons for cooperation in science and education: the role of critical minerals in sustainable development.

The Ministry of Mining and Geology, being the leader of the mining industry, determines the country's GDP. Extraction
and processing of minerals such as gold, copper, uranium, gas, coal form a significant part of industrial production and exports.
The University of Geological Sciences, established in 2020, is aimed at training qualified specialists specifically for the needs of the mining and geological industry, which is important for the country's economy, and is a scientific and educational cluster in the form of a modern campus.
The University of Geological Sciences, together with the research institutes in its structure, along with educational programs, simultaneously promotes relevant research and scientific and applied justifications for promising projects, including on critical minerals, and calls for joint cooperation.
